UTAH September 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed on September 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia. The law establishing the present holiday was created in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd to the Omnibus spending bill of 2004. Before this law was enacted, the holiday was known as “Citizenship Day”. In addition to renaming the holiday “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day,” the act mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day.
Dan Wakely, National Exchange Club President wanted to commemorate this day with a ceremony featuring the Constitution in a school in North Carolina where the students gathered around the flagpole, saying the pledge of allegiance and then reciting the Constitution.
Monument Arts Creative design department designed a custom “logo” for the Elementary School whose sports team is “The Rockets” which was carved on one side of the triangle Flagpole Surround which the ceremony was created around. The Pledge of Allegiance graces side two, and the NEC logo is on the third side below the North Carolina State Seal.

Monument Arts is a division of Colonial Flag which collaborated this summer at the National Exchange Club annual convention where the NEC Patriot Flagpole Program was launched in Greensboro North Carolina to great acclaim by NEC members and club presidents. Paul Swenson, Colonial Flag President stated that his respect for the National Exchange club and their community service efforts, including the Freedom Shrines, and Proudly We Hail awards are in complete synergy with the “One Nation Under God” Flagpole Surrounds’ created by Monument Arts. “You now have the unique opportunity to personally impact our Young Americans with the dedication of a Patriot Flagpole Surround, and will always have the lasting pride of doing so.”
